New-Gen, in my opinion, is sure to be a hit.
Creativity of Writing: 4/5 The story line is the classic good-versus-evil and the fact that Gabriel and Deadalus are twin brothers has also been done. Despite this, there were several elements of the story that sucked me in. The first is how extremely opposite Gabriel and Deadalus are. I know, I know...that's not surprising. But what surprises me is the extent to which they are opposites. Gabriel could have easily said "Oh well...that's that!" but he didn't. His new quest is to keep the children safe and to solve the mutation problem. And the story could have easily been that from Issue #1 out. But it's not...Deadalus could have been eliminated and I think that the comic could stand alone. But NO! Deadalus is ALIVE and he's got an ARMY and intention to take over the worlds. Poor, poor Gabriel. The fact that he has no clue as to what's coming distresses me a little. I like that the writing in this comic has taken ahold of my emotions.
Creativity of Art: 4/5 Honestly, the art isn't my favorite comic book art ever, but I do respect it. I thought about the fact that it is made for a digital format and that brought the score up. The only complaint that I do have is lack of detail in the backgrounds. Other than that, everything is fine. The characters look good (especially the poor, mutated children! Haha!) and the fight scenes are awesome. The underground looks good, but New-Gen just is lacking the detail that I, as an artist, crave. Sometimes I feel that the color scheme is a bit harsh, but overall, it's good!
Overall Casual Read Rating: 4/5 I'm very interested in where this is going and what's about to happen. I'm also very caught up in the fates of the children. It's CHILDREN, man!! In movies and books, if you want to make the audience bawl like a...well....baby, you wipe out the kid or the dog first!!
Note to the Creator(s): I want an interview! :) Now that I know what this is all about, I want to know a little more! I'd also LOVE to pick the brains of the artists! Any way this can be set up? AWESOME comic and I'm looking forward to MORE!
