News: What's Up With Mr. Timms??
As you may know, I had the opportunity to stop by the Mr. Timms booth at San Diego Comic Con (I might have been having a bad hair day, but Mr. Timms NEVER does!) and meet some really awesome "Super Fans" . Look closely at the adorable orange fish.
"Rango" is a movie about a Chameleon trying to find his way in the desert. From the preview, its a cute children's movie about the lizard's adventures and mishaps in trying to protect a small Western town. The movie features Johnny Depp as the voice of "Rango". He's part of a HUGE cast of voice actors. Now, look at this screenshot from the movie preview.
Notice anything? Nope...me neither. San Diego Comic Con is in San Diego...and this fish is very obviously in the desert somewhere.
Well...I guess that's it. I was just wondering if anyone knew what the big deal was.
Seriously, guys! There's SO much mystery here! Did Nickelodeon steal the idea of a "super special fish" from Mr. Ellis Knightly?? Did Mr. Ellis Knightly somehow know that Nickelodeon was putting out the film and decide to make the world think he's some kind of psychic? Is it all some viral marketing scam (well...I feel scammed, anyway....even though Mr. Timms was free...and I didn't pay for anything...and I'm technically not losing anything...)?? What the heck is going on?? If this is some kind of marketing ploy, I have to admit, its genius. Sending a family (if they really ARE a family) to Comic Con, making people fall in love with the little plastic fish, and then BAM! Mr. Timms in the movie preview (I noticed they put him in it TWICE!). Before the gears started turning in my head, I seriously wanted to see this movie JUST to see Mr. Timms! Maybe I'm just paranoid and this is all just an odd coincidence. But what if it's not?!?
To get the full effect of the drama, check out my interview with Mr. Ellis Knightly (he's the awesome sweetheart spreading Mr. Timms all over the world!) and then watch the trailer for "Rango" here.
