"Baltimore: The Plague Ships" Issue 1 Review!

 

I'm so effing tired of wimpy vampires. Seriously? When I was a kid, I saw >a< vampire movie and it scared the living crap out of me. Years have gone by, and the most recent "vampire movie" I've seen was Twilight. Those vampires aren't scary! They don't evoke anything in me except curiosity at how the REAL bad @$$ vampires out there don't slaughter them! I was SO thankful to read "Baltimore: The Plague Ships" by Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden, and Ben Stenbeck. It's got the psycho, bloodthirsty demons that we all know and love.

"The Walking Dead" Issue #1 Review

I’m jumpy now. As cool as Zombies and the idea of a Zombie Apocalypse is, I’m not sure how I’d react to maggot-infested, rot-breathed, flesh-eating “people” wandering around. I like to think I’d be all bad ass and shoot ‘em down. In all honesty, I’d want to be hiding behind the person that really WAS that way. Would I? Heck no! I’d just pretend that it’s House of the Dead: Overkill, or Left 4 Dead 2. All a game, right? 

"Elephantmen" Issue #1 Review

Talk about a beautiful, thought-provoking comic! Elephantmen, written by Richard Starkings and illustrated by Moritat, is definitely a comic worth your time. The comic opens with Ebony, half man and half Elephant, standing outside of an adult club. Savannah, a little girl wandering the streets, walking up. She begins by asking him if he can pick his nose. He replies that he doesn’t have to because he can put his nose in his mouth.

What do you do when every other masked vigilante has let you down? Who do you call when Spiderman disappears right before you need him the most? The Buzz (aka The Human Fly)! Today, I review “The Buzz Issue #1” (Ron Frenz, Tom DeFalco, Sal Buscema, P.T. Sharpefront, Mike Marts, Neil Yomtov)! 

"Impaler" Issue #1 Review

I went to bed last night fearing a gold-seeking little man (my sister made me watch Leprechaun 2 AND I’m the biggest wuss I know when it comes to movies…) and woke up checking to make sure all my limbs were intact. Why? Impaler, was the last thing I read before I called it quits. Written by William Harms and illustrated by Matt Timson, It is truly an AMAZING work of art, don’t get me wrong, but it’s so…detailed and realistic…it’s so “what if”. It strongly reminds me of “I Am Legend” just because the Zombie-Vampire-Things can move during the day. Did I say move? What I MEANT was, run super effing fast and use their tentacle-like legs to grab you and pull you back to your doom.

"Frenemy of the State" Issue #1 Review

Holy crap! Talk about a bad @$$ chick! Ariana (the leading lady) is smart, gorgeous, tough, and oh yeah, a spy. Her character is so appealing because she wears so many hats and spreads her talents around so that her spy life blends into her personal life. We don’t really get to see how she got all of her training, but there’s no doubt that she’s good, especially considering that the C.I.A. is after her.
