Be Aware: Nerdcore Rapper is AWESOME!

Well hello, there, lovelies! I'm proud to announce that I'm baaaccck! The past couple of months have been EXTREMELY crazy in my life, but I'm NOT complaining. Lots of things, both personal and technical (as in technology. LOL) have kept me away. I've recently moved and haven't had much internet service, my car went to car heaven, my laptop went to laptop heaven and lots of other things. If you're up for it (or desperately bored), hit me up and I can fill your ears (or eyes. You know. Whatever!). So...as a "I'm back" post, I figured it's only proper to introduce something (someone!) that I've discovered on my Krypto Dies forced hiatus: MC Chris! If you know me, you'll know that I don't get obsessions (HAHAHAHAHA. Ok. That's totally a LIE!). I'm. Obsessed. You may recognize MC Chris from Adult Swim's Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Or, if you've been totally under a rock, more recently the Honda Civic commercial (it features his song "Hoodie Ninja" from MC Chris Is Dead). Anyway. You MUST check out his music. Show some love and buy the downloads because let's face it: illegally downloading is some bad s*!t. Still not convinced? My top five reasons are as follows:

5.  Dude's worked at Adult Swim! HELLO! But what fascinates me most about him is that he's so multi-talented! That alone is cool as hell, but it isn't what's gotten him so well known. And he doesn't use that as a crutch for his success. He is a rapper. If he's well-known for rapping it's rapping well that got him so well-known. True, ATHF may have helped raise awareness (a little or a lot), but if you sound like crap, nobody will listen to you no matter how many gigs you've had or with who. On top of THAT, he's an ARTIST! I mean...look at the fundraiser that he did to get his cartoon on the air! Wow!


4. He's NOT your typical rapper. Nerdcore aside, he doesn't look, act, or SOUND like anything you've ever heard before. Don't bother calling this guy a "freak". He'll take it as a compliment and make you look like an ass for trying to make it seem like a BAD thing!

3. His music instantly puts me in a good mood. It's so upbeat and fast-paced (well, duh) that you can't help but smile. Oh...and on top of that...he's HILARIOUS. Part of the joy of his music is listening to a song for the first time, going "Did he just say...? *jaw dropped*", looking up the lyrics, confirming the line, and laughing your ass off. I promise you. Having a bad day? Give it a try. :)

2.Compared to me, he's old. But he's definitely not old. I guess that's just a very awkward, b*tchy way of saying: he gives his shows his all. He's so full of energy. He's so passionate about what he does and who he does it for. He's got a message and a meaning and a group of people he's speaking up for. These "outcasts" might not have a voice or FEEL that they have a voice. But with someone as undeniably in the spotlight as MC Chris, there's hope. And, the best part is: he's not slowing down anytime soon. If he thinks HE'S excited about us hearing his new album, he obviously hasn't talked to me. (Let's change that with a kick-awesome interview, shall we??)

1. He's SO fan-oriented. He's constantly updating Facebook (I know...they're sent to my phone!), replying to tweets, and was even on StickCam the other night promoting his fundraiser to get his cartoon on the air! When someone's this cool and they still take time out to thank their fanbase, it's amazing. He SAYS he cares about his fans at his shows and in interviews and whatnot...but anyone can say they care. This guy SHOWS it. Not only that, but he UNDERSTANDS where a lot of his fans come from. He understands where they are in their lives and what they're going through. He's so in tune with the nerd/geek community. He's not a poser. He's the real deal. He doesn't have to try. He just IS.
