Webcomic Review: Questionable Content!

Today, I decided to try something different. Instead of finding something I knew I'd like and be interested in, I tried to find a web-proclaimed bad webcomic. I found a list with the top ten best and worst webcomics of all time, and "Questionable Content" by J. Jacques made the top of the worst list. I've never been one to take people at their word. I had to investigate it myself. Of course, I found that it's actually a good comic and the person who wrote that list was PROBABLY on a power trip because they'd had twelve readers the day before.
"Questionable Content" follows the day-to-day life of two main characters, Marten and Faye. Both are pretty much self-proclaimed indie kids with a love for obscure music and a tendency to find the most awkward moments. The comic follows dating, romance, surviving (Marten always seems to have problems with money), and other things that any person would face. It's a true "slice-of-life" webcomic. What really makes the comic for me is Pintsize, Marten's anthropomorphic robot. He's so tiny! He's so adorable! Let's take a moment to stop and "Awww!"

There..."Awww" over.

It's like a really funny soap opera in comic-format. I highly recommend reading it!

Why, you ask? HERE'S WHY!!

Creativity of Writing: 4/5 I love how you get to see the interesting bits of life. There's not a dull strip in what I've read so far! The dialogue is funny and you seriously feel the awkward moments as if they were your own. I also like how certain situations fall into place (Faye begins living with Marten because she burns her apartment down...making toast) and random things happen (Marten is the object of a girl's crush and doesn't even know it. She approaches him, telling him that she wanted to date him but realized that she was in love with his image and not him as a person...).

Creativity of Art: 4/5 Talk about a comic that's come a LONG way over the years! The two comic strips above are from the VERY beginning of the webcomic. The first one in this review is one of the latest ones. HOOOOLY CRAP! I LOVE how you can tell that the artist has learned a lot, tried new things, experimented, and changed a lot. It look GREAT! It's not really my type of art, but I do appreciate the growth of the artist.

Overall Casual Read Rating: 4/5 It's a good comic with lots of comedy. The characters grow, develop, and show a wide range of emotions. It's unpredictable and witty. Awesome!

By the way, you can read it from the beginning here.

Until next comic, Nerdlings! XOXO Ashleigh
